Peripartum anxiety
There is an increasing dialogue and awareness of the symptoms and impacts of permpartum depression, but new parents are probably less aware of their risk of developing (sometimes quite disabling) symptoms of anxiety during their pregnancy and postpartum period. For some new parents, they will find themselves almost obsessively checking and rechecking the wellbeing of their new baby, or engaging in behaviours which make them feel (temporarily) like they have control over their situation, but actually increases their overall stress and distress.
