The Baby Gammy story continues
2 years after cross border surrogacy hit the spotlight with the story of Baby Gammy, there has been a development to the case in the Australian Family Court. The case received a great deal of attention after it was suggested that the IPs abandoned Gammy in Thailand to their Thai surrogate, and returned to Australia with only Gammy’s twin sister. Gammy continues to live in Thailand with the surrogate.
There has been a great deal of discussion about this case in the international media, and the fall out for surrogacy services in Thailand and elsewhere has been significant. Today, the West Australian Family Court determined that the IPs did not abandon Gammy, and that his twin sister should remain with her parents.
